Chiltern Secure I.D is the new face of Shackman Instruments.
Shackman Instruments was acquired by the group in 1993 and has a long history and international reputation for design and production of Security and I.D equipment. As far back as World War II Shackman was producing navigation aids, bombsights and spy cameras for the R.A.F.
The Chiltern Secure I.D. range of products now centres around Instant I.D. Cameras, which are widely used by security agencies and commercial organisations. Although the cameras appear basic, the simple but rugged construction means they are very durable in the field and the instant picture avoids the authentication and editable issues associated with using digital images.
I.D. applications include international projects for electoral registration, passports, driving licences and Identity card schemes. The cameras also produce useful images for accident investigation as well as wound / injury pictures for paramedics and health workers.
The company is a major supplier to the European Commission, United Nations and numerous UK public bodies.
